McCain’s VP Pick Could Come Within Hours
Though the buzz around John McCain’s VP selection has died a bit during the Democratic National Convention, rumors began swirling furiously today as the time draws near for the announcement. In fact, Matt Drudge has posited that the decision could be leaked as soon as 6:00 tonight, timed near Barack Obama’s nomination speech. To Empire, Pawlenty and Romney are in a dead heat for the job. Romney has been leading the Republican counter-offensive at the Democrats’ Denver Convention and has a great deal of experience bringing positive economic change in business and government. McCain’s folks have always liked Pawlenty, and he may have a better chance at connecting with the average folks than Romney. We also wonder if McCain won’t also announce that should he win, Joe Lieberman would get a cabinet position. This would give conservatives a VP nominee they’re happy with and might also draw in the independents that McCain would likely need to win. Either way, stay tuned throughout the evening and tomorrow for further updates.
