The Empire of the Mind

The Empire of the Mind is a blog covering politics and news of all varieties. We hope to bring you analysis of national and international news (in short, whatever we feel like writing about) on at least a weekly basis (we admit we’re pretty busy). The contributors to Empire are all college students, studying in a wide range of fields. We don’t claim to be experts, but we all share a strong interest in analyzing and writing about current affairs.

The moderator of Empire, Doug Jones, is a junior at the University of Scranton majoring in international relations and philosophy. Doug participates in a wide variety of campus activities, ranging from Student Government to playing trombone in the Symphonic Band. He has worked in local government in Northeastern Pennsylvania and as an intern on Capitol Hill. Next spring, Doug is looking forward to a semester in Amman, Jordan, where he will study the culture and politics of the Middle East and brush up on his meager knowledge of Arabic.
